FAQ: What is the difference between BSA (B9001S) which was discontinued, versus BSA, Molecular Biology Grade (B9000S)?
Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) from NEB has been reformulated to provide a higher quality product. In addition to a concentration change, BSA, Molecular Biology Grade (B9000S) is now provided in a new storage buffer: 20 mM Tris-HCl (pH 8.0), 100 mM KCl, 0.1 mM EDTA and 50% Glycerol which is significantly different than the previous BSA (B9001): 20 mM KPO4 (pH 7.0), 50 mM NaCl, 0.1 mM EDTA and 5% Glycerol. The following quality control tests are also now included with BSA, Molecular Biology Grade (B9000S): DNase (Non-Specific, Exonuclease and Endonuclease), ssDNAse (FAM labeled oligo), RNase (2h and extended), Phosphatase, E. coli Genomic DNA (aPCR assay).
